This is about America after a war and an influenza epidemic that has killed most of the population and left the rest to deal with survival in the aftermath of the downfall of society. Like Rambert, who wants his logical arguments to convince the authorities to let him out of the city, Father Paneloux also wants to apply some sort of logic to the situation. The both of them argued until the slavers fell asleep and when they did, Stephen’s Dad crept out of the plane and into the camp, as soon as he touched the slaves they awoke and told them that they wanted to stay with the slavers but Stephen’s Dad went on a freed them. The suspense and chills are fast paced. The Plague is a novel by Albert Camus that was first published in 1947.
This is my kind of book. It is up to Stephen to keep his father and himself safe and try to find shelter. I will be giving a summary that does not spoil the ending. Sneaky scary things. It reminded me a great deal of The Black Death, but that figures - Marr co-wrote that one.

In the Eleventh Plague, a series of events happens to change the story later on in the book.

The plot and general story outline are very intriguing but the writing itself was tedious and boring. Rieux's asthma patient declares that everything is "topsy turvey." I yawned my way through the rest. I did this for a reading challenge for a book group I participate in.
