On the same day that RBTR first gained knowledge of a potential Dutchwaregear lawsuit, via an email from Hyosung on October 17, 2018, RBTR removed ALL ROBIC-branded fabrics at issue from its website. We simply include the term “ripstop” in the product title and description of our HyperD fabrics because--based on long-standing, accepted industry practice--it is ripstop. This definitely seems to place Dutch in the wrong here, but I hope to hear his side of the story as well sometime soon. See below for link: https://www.hammockforums.net/…/show…/150123-A-note-on-ROBIC, 2. Dutchwaregear filed its lawsuit against RBTR approximately 2 weeks later on 11/1/18. Dutch will be able to prove damages based on comments like this. If ROBIC is mad out if nylon 6, is there an equivalent fabric (420d or less) made out of nylon 6.6 yarns? Share how you used your hammock setup on a recent trip. 4. It's a shame because if it doesn't help anyone. With regard to fabric performance, saying that the presence or absence of any “ripstop” makes one fabric inherently “better” than another is misleading at best and, at worst, is simply false. So I still don't understand - Dutchware Gear is suing Ripstop by the Roll for using certain words in their product descriptions - words that Dutchwear gear also uses?

Ill buy my future hammocks from other suppliers it seems. I invite everyone to try this for yourself the next time you’re out shopping btw.
Regardless of whether that opinion supports RBTR or not, I want you to know that I respect your right to that opinion. I missed this - how do you know he didn't attempt to resolve this out of court? We are 100% comfortable and confident with the facts, and with that said, we do not intend to be silent about our denial of the claims brought against us. Thanks in advance for your time and continued support! I've also purchased two hammocks from Dutchware and a lot of suspension straps, cordage and bling from him. https://dutchwaregear.com/product/210d-pack-material/. After observing the comments made throughout the past 72 hours, I feel what’s needed now is a factual summary of the circumstances and events giving rise to this and my prior post. 04-01-2019, 16:58 #2 Any chance you could do a video on that?

I find myself in an odd position in my thoughts about this. Dutchware Gear sell two types of looped straps. This kickstarter garnered almost $200,000 and launched Dutchwaregear into the business of making finished products that directly competed with other vendors, many of whom purchased fabrics from RBTR. All in all, I don't really care and this just seems like another instance of humans being shitty to each other. I did not and still do not want this fight. It wouldn't be the first time Dutch has profited from others ideas/innovations, although often welcomed, usually uncredited and that always seemed a dick move to me but he always seemed a nice guy on HF... guess it was a facade. In addition to industry norms for labeling both fabric and finished products, Dutchwaregear itself has admitted to selling “diamond ripstop nylon” along with listing its HEXON brand of fabric as “6-way ripstop nylon” during its Chameleon kickstarter and for some time thereafter as well. Since we're not part of the suit, we won't have all of the details, and therefore cannot make an informed decision. I'm not at liberty to discuss specifics (which means my credibility is suspect in this comment, but I accept that) but it's absolutely in line with what we're used to seeing from Dutch if you've spent any time in the cottage vendor community. Regarding the ROBIC portion of this lawsuit, I think you should all be aware of the following: RBTR had no specific knowledge it was selling ROBIC branded fabrics containing yarn not approved for ROBIC branding until after learning from Hyosung—the ROBIC manufacturer and the trademark-holder at issue—the fabric mill RBTR was purchasing from did not use ROBIC yarn. As I’ve said many times over, we have absolutely nothing to hide in this ordeal. There are many factors that ultimately determine how well a certain fabric performs, including, but not limited to, thread count, weave, yarn type, and finishing techniques. While I would personally love to have a true debate where ALL relevant factors are shared for consumption, I respect the fact that this is not the appropriate place for anything other than facts. I hope that this post has shed further light on these issues in an objective manner for all those reading, as that was my intention. As stated already in multiple posts, RBTR was never directly contacted by Dutchwaregear regarding the potential for any lawsuit. If you were to google search the web, you would find an almost unlimited number of fabric vendors outside of RBTR with “diamond ripstop nylon” for sale in the exact same manner. I invite everyone to try this for yourself the next time you’re out shopping btw.

After reading this, you will likely have an opinion. I'll take my business elsewhere. 6. Join our community to learn and share how you make your own gear. I'd love to hear Dutch's point of view, but it should be possible eventually to find out who is telling the truth. yeah I'm curious Kyle even comments himself. I think Cordura is 6.6, but I don't know if it's spun similarly (or whatever makes the difference) as ROBIC.

In light of #1, we vehemently deny any statements to the effect that RBTR “intentionally misled” or that our actions were “willful and deliberate.”. I do hope we can all try to keep clear minds and stay level headed about this. Pretty shitty. Here is a statement from Kyle (the owner of RBTR) from the r/hammockcamping subreddit.
