For Lee's first-ever foray into television, he brought a two-season updated edition of She's Gotta Have It to Netflix in 2017 (and a second season, straying from the movie's story, was released in 2019). If you really want to know him, then read his books and watch his video clips before you pass any judgement about this interesting revolutionary. Not only did She's Gotta Have It stand as the jumping-off point for Lee's own career, but it also ushered in an entire movement of both independent and Black filmmakers, while putting artists and performers from Brooklyn even more firmly on the industry map.
